Privacy Policy
This policy explains how YYCZufang.com (YYC租房) collects, uses, discloses, protects, and manages personal information when you use our Calgary rental marketplace.
Effective date: October 21, 2026
1. Scope and privacy responsibility
This policy applies to YYCZufang.com, landlord/publisher accounts, rental listings, inquiries, saved-search alerts, rental-support requests, privacy requests, and related platform operations. YYC租房 is operated in Alberta and this policy is designed with Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and, where applicable, Canada's PIPEDA in mind.
Privacy contact: YYC租房 Privacy Lead · hello@yyczufang.com. You may also use our Contact page.
2. Information we may collect
Account information: name, username, email, phone number if provided, account role, email-verification status, and security/account activity needed to operate the account.
Listing information: property address, community, rent, availability, property characteristics, listing text, photos, and other information a publisher chooses to submit.
Renter and support information: name, email, phone/WeChat if provided, inquiry message, saved-search criteria and email address, and information voluntarily provided in rental-support requests.
Technical and security information: necessary session cookies, basic request/security logs, and limited first-party product events such as opening filters, viewing a listing, saving, sharing, submitting an inquiry, or progressing through publishing. Product events are designed not to store search text, names, email addresses, phone numbers, property addresses, inquiry content, or a persistent advertising/device identifier.
3. Why we use information
We use information to create and secure accounts; publish, review and manage listings; generate Chinese listing translations; standardize addresses and map locations; route renter inquiries to the appropriate publisher; provide saved-search and account/listing notices requested by users; operate rental-support workflows; prevent abuse, duplicate or unauthorized listings; maintain platform security; troubleshoot and improve the service; respond to privacy requests; and comply with legal obligations.
4. Public listing information
Information intentionally submitted for a public rental listing, including approved photos and listing details, may be publicly visible. Account-management tokens and passwords are not public. YYC租房 may use community-level or approximate map positioning where appropriate instead of exposing unnecessary precise location information.
5. Service providers and automated processing
YYC租房 may use service providers for hosting, storage, email delivery, security/monitoring, translation and geocoding. Providers receive only the information reasonably needed for the relevant function.
AI translation: English listing title/description text may be processed through an AI service provider to generate a Chinese version. Do not place SINs, banking information, identity documents, tenant-screening records, or other unnecessary sensitive information in listing text.
Address matching: address-search/geocoding requests may be processed server-side by Geoapify to standardize an address and obtain map coordinates/community information. API credentials are not exposed to the browser.
Maps: public map pages may load map tiles from OpenStreetMap providers and Leaflet assets from a content-delivery network. Those third parties may receive ordinary web-request metadata such as IP address, browser information, and requested resource.
Some service providers may process or store information outside Alberta or Canada, where it may be subject to the laws of the jurisdiction in which it is processed.
6. Cookies and browser storage
YYC租房 uses necessary session cookies for authenticated landlord/admin functions and security controls. Favorites, recently viewed listings and an English-post draft may be stored in your browser's local storage. The posting draft is designed to expire after about 7 days and does not store uploaded photo files. YYC租房 does not currently use these browser features for third-party behavioural advertising.
7. Sensitive information and renter screening
Do not send SINs, banking passwords, complete credit reports, identity-document copies, medical information, or other unnecessary sensitive information through ordinary listing or inquiry forms. YYC租房 is not a tenant-screening bureau. If a landlord or property manager separately collects tenant-screening information, that party is responsible for its own privacy and legal obligations.
8. Consent and choices
We seek consent appropriate to the information and purpose. Information necessary to provide a requested service may be required to use that feature. Optional communications should be based on the user's choice. You may withdraw consent to optional uses, subject to legal or contractual restrictions and reasonable notice.
9. Retention and deletion
We keep personal information only as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described above, security/fraud prevention, dispute handling, legal requirements, and normal backup cycles. A public listing normally expires after the platform's listing-validity period, but associated account, moderation, audit, transaction/support, or backup records may be retained for a reasonable period. When information is no longer required, it is deleted, anonymized, or rendered inaccessible as appropriate.
10. Safeguards
YYC租房 uses safeguards appropriate to the service, including password hashing, access controls, CSRF protection, rate limiting, restricted administrative access, private server-to-provider gateways where applicable, and operational backups. No Internet service can guarantee absolute security.
11. Access, correction, export and deletion requests
You may request access to personal information associated with you, ask how it has been used or disclosed, request correction, or ask for an export or deletion where appropriate. We may need to verify your identity and may retain information where required or reasonably necessary for legal, security, fraud-prevention, dispute, or backup purposes.
12. Privacy incidents and complaints
If a privacy incident creates a reporting or notification obligation under applicable law, YYC租房 will take the steps required by that law. Questions or complaints should first be sent to our Privacy Lead at hello@yyczufang.com. Depending on the circumstances, individuals may also have rights to contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when our services, providers or legal requirements change. The current version and effective date will be posted on this page. Material changes may also be highlighted in the relevant user flow.
